DOTS
Work series Dots (2003 - 2006) is a both book and exhibition project The series “Dots” is about viewing and seeing, travelling and living out of habitual environment, about things what make one’s eye stop, about unknown people who have their picture taken and let themselves to photograph, about passers-by, posts, smack of cheap dining places in Bronx, about tatty sidewalks in Malaysia and moist air of Oxford, about bright sunsets of Sidney, about magnificent anniversary of Singapore city and shutters in windows of New York houses. But mostly these works are about intuitive walking in streets of unknown cities without a map and any other aim than only experience life. The works are paired without any attempt to reflect sequence of experienced places and events. When combining the never happened in reality a new message appears. Such a “combined” photography at the root is more authentic document than an author’s experience or collection of separated pictures. It is impossible to disconnect memories of New Your from those about Sidney, as it is impossible to disconnect a part of one’s previous experience in order to act as for the first time in life in before experienced situation. The works are shot in Latvia, Oxford (UK), Johor Bahru (Malaysia), Singapore, New York (USA), Sidney (Australia), Hamburg (Germany), Milan (Italy), Amsterdam (Netherlands). Technical specifications The series “dots” is created as an exhibition and book project. The total number of pair photographs is 73.
